Summary
The purpose of the investigation was to determine the heat transfer characteristics of a planar heat pipe for cooling electrical equipment. The design of the planar heat pipe, its construction, and the testing procedure were also part of the objective. External axial temperature distributions along the planar heat pipe were measured. Free convection, forced convection, different orientation, and a wide range of temperature cooling tests were conducted.
