Development and introduction of a new series of light commercial hermetic compressors.

Author(s) : RICHTER H., PUSCHMANN O., LORENTZEN J., et al.

Summary

Approximately 3 years ago the development of a new series of hermetic refrigeration compressors for light commercial applications has been started. The target of the development was to create a modern, energetically efficient line of compressors with a swept volume from 18 to 34 cm3 for the use in existing and new applications with HFC refrigerants. An analysis of recent market requirements and potential resulted in a design based on a conventional reciprocating piston compressor conception has been made. The paper describes key aspects of the development. It reflects on the traditional way of design within an almost known compressor technology. Furthermore, it shows particular solutions to achieve a high performance reciprocating compressor meeting the latest economic and environmental requirements. Special features of the series are explained. Results of compressor tests are presented.
