Summary

In this paper, moving-magnet linear compressors with different structure parameters for the household refrigerator are designed and developed to investigate their performance characteristics and structure optimization methods. The optimized structure of the moving-magnet linear motor with different coil number is investigated by the experiments. A novel gas load method to measure the linear motor efficiency is presented. The efficiency experimental results show that the efficiency is higher as the power frequency gets closer to the intrinsic frequency. The optimization model for piston stroke and cylinder diameter is established to make the energy loss be the least. The refrigeration experimental results show that the coefficient of performance of the linear compressor prototype is about 1.62 on the rating work conditions of refrigerator. The better way to keep the linear compressor work on stable and higher efficiency status is to make the power frequency a little less than the intrinsic frequency.
