Summary

The authors developed a prototype CO2 hermetic compressor with two rolling pistons, and producing low vibrations and low noise. Two-stage compression with two cylinders is adopted, because of the pressure difference. The inner pressure of the shell case is kept at an intermediate level to minimize gas leakage between compressing chambers and the inner space of the shell case. Intermediate pressure design enabled to make the compressor smaller in size and lighter in weight. As a result, the compressor achieved high efficiency and high reliability.
