Development of a refrigerant two-phase flow distributor for a room air conditioner.

Author(s) : NAKAYAMA M., SUMIDA Y., HIRAKUNI S., et al.

Summary

The distributor consists of the capillary mixing space and the dividing space of two-phase flow to each evaporator path. The report examines the influence of the mass flow rates, vapour qualities at the distributor inlet and the installation angles of it on distribution characteristics. The cooling capacity of the room air conditioner with the new distributor was measured. The new distributor divided refrigerant two-phase flow equally into each evaporator path regardless of the mass flow rates, vapour qualities and the distributor inlet and its inclination angle. The cooling capacity was improved.
