Development of high-performance heat exchangers using asymmetrically shaped offset-slit fins.

[In Japanese. / En japonais.]

Summary

A new type of extended fin surface named "asymmetrically shaped offset-slit fins" has been developed. Each fin has two groups of slits: one group has two slits near the upwind side of the fin and the other has eight slits near the downwind of the fin, and large rib is located between the two groups. Heat transfer calculation and measurement confirmed that, in comparison with previous heat exchangers, the heat exchangers using the new type of the fins decrease the pressure drop across the fin by 22 and 50% under frost and nonfrost conditions, respectively.
