Summary

The new solutions for liquid desiccant evaporative cooling systems designed for refrigerating and air conditioning purposes on the basis of absorption cycle with the use of solar energy for absorbent regeneration have been developed. The principles of desiccant evaporative coolers construction with preliminary dehumidifying of the air and subsequent evaporative cooling are shown in the context of direct and indirect regeneration of desiccant. Modern heat and mass transfer equipment for alternative cooling systems (absorber-dehumidifier, desorberregenerator, evaporative coolers of direct and indirect types) on the basis of ceramic structures has been developed within the framework of this research. It is shown that the efficiency of the ceramic packing is 10-20% higher compared to packings from aluminum foil and multichannel polycarbonate plates because of the absence of traditional liquid film on the packing surface and absolute wettability of the ceramic packing.
