Summary

The research goal of the low temperature air source heat pump (LTASHP) is to pursue higher heating capacity, energy efficiency and indoor thermal comfort, and it has become an important task in the promotion of the sustainable heating technologies in the cold area. Presents the technical developments for the LTASHP in Japan including the performance improvement of main components, such as compressors and heat exchangers, the optimization of the refrigeration cycle and control strategy, the frost removal without intermission in heating, the drainage of defrosting water etc.
