Summary

In the field of air conditioning and refrigeration, absorption machines play an important role to improve the energy and the environmental problems. Low COP and too high temperatures for desorbers (generators) are serious disadvantages. The paper presents possibilities raising COP and reduce the level of desorbers temperatures. There are two possibilities to lower input temperature of a sorption. The first one is to decrease the driving temperature differences at exchangers. This can be done by increasing the exchangers surfaces or decreasing the capacity. The second option is a change in working pair. Mixtures of lithium bromide and organic salts of sodium and potassium (formate, acetate and lactate) have been evaluated as alternative absorbents for absorption refrigeration machines. In the following, the third option, which is to use multistaging for increasing the efficiency.
