Developments in applied magnetocaloric refrigeration technology.

Number: pap. ID: 336

Summary

One of the most promising materials for magnetocaloric refrigeration applications is the MnFePSi material family. These materials have been the focus of much research in recent times [Dung et al., 2011]. MnFePSi materials show a high isothermal entropy change with magnetization and large adiabatic temperature change when compared with other materials. The Curie temperature of the material can also be tuned by slightly varying the material composition. This allows the construction of refrigeration devices providing larger temperature spans. These materials also have the considerable advantage of being free of rare earth metal components.
