Energy efficient refrigerator without greenhouse gas: latest developments of the new technology of magnetocaloric cooling.

Number: pap. ID: 344

Author(s) : MULLER C., VASILE C., KEITH B., et al.

Summary

This publication will show the latest theoretical and experimental developments of an innovative refrigerator prototype and its sub-assembly. This new prototype uses the magnetic cooling technology as an alternative technically credible and economically viable compared to classical systems using refrigerant gas for a refrigerator appliance. The basic principles for designing a prototype of a magnetocaloric refrigerator in the range of ambient temperatures with a temperature span of 40 K between the "Hot" source and the "Cold" source will be presented. We will also explain the key elements that affect the power and the temperature span into the device.
