THE ARTICLE DISCUSSES THE RESULTS OF THE MATHEMATICAL MODELLING OF THE DYNAMICS OF A RECIPROCATING PISTON COMPRESSOR FOR REFRIGERANTS, TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE CLEARANCES IN THE MAJOR COUPLINGS. A NEW APPROACH TO DESCRIBING THE CON-ROD/PISTON UNIT MOTIONS PERMITS THE TRANSITION PROCESSES WHICH TAKE PLACE IN THE KINEMATIC PAIRS OF THE MECHANISM TO BE CALCULATED. MOREOVER, THE AUTHORS PRESENT SOME RESULTS OF THE EXPERIMENTAL TESTS OF PARAMETERS ALLOWING A MATHEMATICAL MODEL FOR THE TECHNICAL DIAGNOSIS OF THE REFRIGERANT COMPRESSOR CONDITION.
