Direct measurements of the magnetocaloric effect: realization and results.

Summary
A method of the direct measurements of the magnetocaloric effect (adiabatic temperature change) is regarded and discussed. It possible realizations and peculiarities are considered in detail. Previous results obtained by the direct method are observed and recent results of the dynamic direct measurements of the magnetocaloric effect and equipment for the dynamic measurements are also presented and discussed. Importance of the direct dynamic magnetocaloric measurements for characterization of the magnetocaloric materials suitable for using as working bodies in magnetic heat machines is shown and recent results obtained at high magnetic field change rates for Gd are presented.
