Setup for express measurements of the magnetocaloric effect.

Summary

A simple experimental setup for direct magnetocaloric effect (MCE) measurements is presented. Dipole Halbach-structure permanent magnet is used as a 1T steady field source. Magnetic field change is provided by linear movement of the magnet relative to the measuring insert containing a sample under investigation. The setup is intended for MCE measurements in room temperature range and can operate in manual and automated modes. The setup specifications: operating temperature range, 0 to plus or minus 70°C, magnetic field changing rate 2 T/s, sample dimensions 2 × 4 × 8 mm.
