Summary

THE TECHNICAL CAUSES OF AMMONIA LEAKAGES AND LOSSES THAT OCCURRED IN DAIRY AND MEAT PROCESSING PLANT FROM 1970 TO 1983 ARE DISCUSSED. THE MOST FREQUENT CAUSE IS HAMMERING IN THE COMPRESSOR DUE TO A BAD OPERATION OF THE REFRIGERATION PLANT AND UNSATISFACTORY DESIGN. CASE OF AMMONIA LOSSES DUE TO BAD ERECTION AND REPAIR PROCESSES.
