COLD STORAGE FACILITIES ARE FACED WITH THE DILEMMA OF CONTAINI NG REFRIGERATED AIR TO MAINTAIN CHILLED OR FROZEN PRODUCT QUALITY, YET ALLOWING ACCESS INTO THE COLD STORAGE ROOM MANY TIMES AN HOUR FOR THE RECEIPT AND SHIPMENT OF PRODUCT. THIS ARTICLE APPLIES ASHRAE FORMULAE TO CALCULATE ADDITIONAL COLD STORAGE ENERGY COSTS FROM THE LOSS OF COLD STORAGE ENERGY AND AIR INFILTRATION THROUGH AN OPEN DOOR. HIGH SPEED COLD STORAGE DOORS ARE IMPORTANT.
