Summary

The performance of inner flow field of a frost-free refrigerator has great influence on the energy consumption of the refrigerator. In this research, a frost-free refrigerator model was constructed by transparent Plexiglas based on a BCD-190 W refrigerator. A 2-D airflow test system was set up including the selection of proper tracing particles, measuring method and control parameters. High-accuracy 2-D digital particle image velocimetry (DPIV) technology was used to measure the flow field of the typical zones in the freezer chest of the model. The relationship between airflow velocity distribution character and the design of the supply-air openings was established, and the shortages of the openings design of the model were identified. The experimental results provide the direction for the optimization of airflow duct of the frost-free refrigerator.
