Summary
The relationships between process irreversibilities and the COP of a household refrigerator are presented. The sources of the thermodynamic losses are identified and described mathematically from the laws of thermodynamics. The distribution of irreversibilities between the components is calculated using a simulation model. The interaction coefficients between the local irreversibilities and the overall system irreversibility are defined and analysed.
