A study on a three-dimensional simulation of air flowing pattern and temperature distribution for a household refrigerator.

Author(s) : WU X. H., XIE G. Z.

Summary

The arrangement of shelves in the fresh chamber and the structure of freezing chamber greatly influence the air flowing pattern and temperature distributions inside a refrigerator were investigated. In the paper, three dimension simulations of the air flowing pattern and temperature distribution inside the fresh chamber indicate that the arrangement using plate-shelf with 2-3-centimetre gap between them is preferable. It can decrease the temperature difference in each layer and enhance the heat exchange between air and evaporator. The simulation of the freezing chamber with different structures shows that the auxiliary evaporating coil for each intersected cabinet could not only ensure temperature distribution uniformly, but also keep odours among the freezing cabinets not to penetrate each other.
