Summary

The paper presents the authors' research on the high-speed steel T1, M2, M1 (AISI) and S 3-3-2 (SEW 320), conventionally and cryogenically treated (200, 153, and 77.6 K). The increased durabilities for the cryogenic variants of thermal treatment can be attributed to some profound changes of the residual austenite, to the forming of some uniformly-distributed fine precipitates, as well as to the increase of the martensite alloying degree.
