Dynamic magnetocaloric effect in the intermetallic R-M (M= Al, Co, Fe) compounds.

Summary
Magnetocaloric effect (adiabatic temperature change) in the vicinities of the corresponding phase transitions from paramagnetic to magnetically ordered states of RAl(2) (R= Gd, Tb), TbCo(2), Gd(3)Al(2), Y(2)Fe(17) and Nd(2)Fe(17) compounds was measured by the direct method in a dynamic mode using magnetic fields (H) up to 1.87 T. Noticeable field hysteresis of the adiabatic temperature change (H) dependencies were observed in Gd(3)Al(2), TbCo(2) and Nd(2)Fe(17). Possible reasons and mechanisms for the hysteresis are discussed.
