Dynamic modelling of thermal comfort.

Summary

From the concept of uniform equivalent temperature it was possible to devise a couple of indices for assessing the thermal comfort. Using them requires that the temperature of the surface of walls and of any radiant heat source within the enclosure be determined. A number of selected examples illustrate how valuable the proposed procedure is in assessing thermal comfort in relation to structural features of walls, ventilation regimes and radiant heat fields. Finally, a necessary but not sufficient condition is stated for the thermal comfort: that it be achieved everywhere in the building.
