Summary

Pool boiling heat transfer around a single horizontal tube simulating a boiler used in a binary power generation system was experimentally examined using HFO-1233zd(E). A super-hard stainless steel tube made of the same material with the actual system was used and heated by hot water. Thermal spray coatings were applied to the heat transfer surface for heat transfer enhancement of nucleate boiling by increasing the nucleation site density. To evaluate the effect of refrigerant properties on nucleate boiling heat transfer on smooth and thermal spray coating, the experimental results were compared with those of HFC-245fa used in actual systems. The saturation temperature was set to 20, 35, and 50 ºC. As a result, boiling heat transfer coefficient of HFO- 1233zd(E) could be improved by the coating. The tendency where the enhancement factor was higher for HFO- 1233zd(E) was observed.
