Summary

IT WAS ESTABLISHED THAT WITH AN INCREASE IN THE EVAPORATION TEMPERATURE OF THE AMMONIA SOLUTION IN A HOUSEHOLD ABSORPTION REFRIGERATOR, CORROSION PROCESSES INTENSIFY EVEN IN THE PRESENCE OF AN ANTI-CORROSION PROTECTOR. AT 473 K (200 DEG C) AND ABOVE, SUSPENDED MAGNETITE IS PRACTICALLY ALWAYS CONTAINED IN THE SOLUTION, THUS BLOCKING THE GENERATOR TUBES AND CAUSING UNIT FAILURE EVEN BEFORE THE GUARANTEE EXPIRES. BY A SIMULATION METHOD A QUANTITATIVE EVALUATION OF THE EFFECT OF TEMPERATURE ON THE CORROSION RATE WAS DERIVED. FROM THE RESULTS OBTAINED, RECOMMENDATIONS ARE GIVEN AS REGARDS INCREASING THE RELIABILITY OF HOUSEHOLD REFRIGERATORS.
