Effectiveness of local filters for infection control in medical examination rooms.

It is concluded that portable air filters are highly effective in removing particles from typical examination rooms and, because they also reduce the amount of contaminants entrained into the HVAC system, might be suitable for infection control at low-risk health facilities.
