EFFECTS OF REVERSING VALVES ON HEAT PUMP PERFORMANCE.

Author(s) : DAMASCENO G., ROOKE S., GOLDSCHMIDT V. W.

Type of article: Article, IJR article

Summary

REVERSING VALVES AFFECT THE PERFORMANCE OF A HEAT PUMP DUE TO 3 EFFECTS: HEAT TRANSFER, PRESSURE DROP AND MASS LEAKAGE. THE PAPER DESCRIBES THE DEVELOPMENT OF MATHEMATICAL MODELS BASED ON THE STEADY-STATE PERFORMANCE OF A HEAT PUMP. THESE MODELS CAN BE USED TO ESTIMATE THE EXPECTED CHANGES IN PERFORMANCE DUE TO THE PRESENCE OF A REVERSING VALVE. AN EXAMPLE IS PRESENTED SHOWING THE EFFECTS OBSERVED IN BOTH HEATING AND COOLING MODES.
