Summary

Filters in an air-conditioning system must be sufficiently effective to ensure that no damage is done to fans and exchangers during operation and that occupants' health is protected. The Eurovent 4/10 recommendation dated 1996 describes a method enabling in-situ measurement of spectrum (according to particle size) efficacy of air filters. This control method was developed recently so there is little accumulated experience in its use. Cetiat (Centre technique des industries aérauliques et thermiques [Ventilation and Heating Industries' Technical Centre]) has investigated the fundamental features of this method, by implementing the equipment and using it according to recommendations, at two sites in the Lyons area.
