Summary

MT-TNO CARRIED OUT A RESEARCH PROGRAM AT A REFRIGERATING PLANT FOR LONG STORAGE OF FRUITS. THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS PROJECT WAS TO DEMONSTRATE MEASURES WHICH LEAD TO ENERGY SAVING. THE INVESTIGATION SHOWED A REDUCTION OF ABOUT 19% IN THE COMPRESSOR'S ENERGY CONSUMPTION WITH THE USE OF A TWO-SPEED ELECTRIC MOTOR. INAN EXISTING INSTALLATION THE PAYBACK TIME AMOUNTS TO 5 YEARS.
