Summary
Through adjustable speed-drives, there is a substantial energy conservation potential in the Netherlands. Variable speed drives, for residential and small commercial refrigerators and freezers are able to save 845 million kilowatthours/year, or 18% of their total energy use. Results of experiments are given.
