Summary

In this study, the energy, entransy and exergy (EEE) analyses of a liquid desiccant regenerator during regeneration of desiccant are presented. Expressions are derived for energy exchanged, entransy dissipated and exergy destroyed during desorption of water vapor from the liquid desiccant to the ambient air. Performance of the regenerator is investigated in terms of entransy and desorption efficiencies. The influences of desiccant solution and air flow rate, desiccant solution and air temperature, desiccant concentration and ambient air humidity ratio on overall energy exchanged, exergy destroyed and entransy dissipated are investigated in detail. Results show that the above listed parameters, except air dry bulb temperature and desiccant concentration have a significant impact on EEE analyses of the regenerator. EEE analyses described in the present study specifies the direction
for system design and performance improvement.
