Summary

IT IS EXPECTED THAT IT WILL BE POSSIBLE TO ECONOMISE BY ABOUT 20% ON THE ENERGY CONSUMPTION, IF THE RETAIL TRADER, WHEN PURCHASING A CABINET, IS WELL AWARE OF ITS ENERGY CONSUMPTION IN COMPARISON WITH CABINETS OF SIMILAR DESIGN. THE TNO-DIVISION OF HEAT AND REFRIGERATING TECHNOLOGY IS CARRYING OUT AN INVESTIGATION AIMING AT THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SO-CALLED ENERGY INFORMATION GUIDE ON COMMERCIAL REFRIGERATED CABINETS AND A STANDARDISED TESTING PROCEDURE. THE ENERGY INFORMATION GUIDE WILL FURTHER STATE THE NORMALISED ENERGY CONSUMPTION OF THE CABINET AND WILL INDICATE WHETHER THE CABINET HAS A HIGH OR LOW ENERGY CONSUMPTION IN COMPARISON WITH SIMILAR EQUIPMENT. THE NORMALIZED ENERGY CONSUMPTION IS CALCULATED FROM THE MEASURED COLD DEMAND OF THE CABINET AT THE MEAN TEMPERATURE IN THE RETAIL SHOP.
