Energy performance for supermarket refrigeration systems and refrigerated display cabinets.

Author(s) : HORVATH J. A., DODD M. E.

Summary

The development of the Canadian "Energy performance standard for commercial refrigerated display cabinets and merchandisers", CSA-C657, is now completed. The paper describes the research work that was undertaken in order to define a methodology with which the energy efficiencies of different display cabinets may be determined and expressed. It was found that cabinets of similar thermodynamic designs display similar efficiencies and that efficiencies of all cabinets of similar thermodynamic designs are proportional to the temperature level maintained in the cabinet.
