Summary
The Swedish National Testing and Research Institute has assessed present state-of-the-art by testing 5 vertical display cabinets in accordance with prEN 441. Results include differences in energy usage due to changing ambient conditions in terms of temperature, humidity and air velocity. Also, the effects of night curtains and the results of air infiltration due to deficiencies in the curtains has been studied. The paper will specifically address problems related to methods and control strategies for defrosting of indirect systems. Finally, the paper will discuss a number of important aspects of the proposed European standard.
