Type of article: Article

Summary

The paper presents a new thermal storage process. Hermetically sealed straight tubes containing a phase change material are included in a shell, just like a shell and tube heat exchanger. Glycolated water is circulated between this shell and the tubes and heats or cools the PCM according to the needs. The glycolated water is cooled during cold storage period, through a plate heat exchanger or cools water or brine when it is useful. The freezing temperature of the PCM can be chosen between 0 and -20 °C.
