A TABLE GIVES THE NUMERICAL DATA COLLECTED DURING THE SURVEY OF 38 DISTRIBUTION FIRMS, ON THE FOLLOWING FOUR POINTS: ENERGY COSTS, INVESTMENTS MADE FOR SAVINGS' SAKE, RECORDED SAVINGS ; LIGHTING COSTS (INSTALLED CAPACITIES, NUMBER OF LIGHTING HOURS, LIGHT SOURCES USED) ; HEATING, VENTILATING AND AIR CONDITIONING COST (IN STORES, WAREHOUSES, OFFICE BUILDINGS) ; COST OF REFRIGERATING EQUIPMENT, IN TERMS OF THE CAPACITY OF INSTALLED UNITS AND THEIR CONSUMPTION). THESE TAKE A PARTICULAR IMPORTANCE IN CHAIN STORES AND HYPERMARKETS, DUE TO THE LENGTHS OF STANDS FOR PRODUCTS REQUIRING SIMPLE COOLING AND DUE TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF FROZEN FOODS AND ICE CREAM ; AFTER THE SURVEY, THE COST OF REFRIGERATION AMOUNTS TO MORE THAN 29%, ON AN AVERAGE, OF THE TOTAL ENERGY COST, FOR BOTH CATEGORIES OF FIRMS. THE CAPACITY OF REFRIGERATING UNITS IS 40 W / M2 ON AN AVERAGE. CONSUMPTION IS RELATIVELY VARYING, 85 KWH / M2 YEAR, ON AN AVERAGE D FOR RECOVERY OF THE HEAT FROM VITIATED AIR. G.G.
