Summary

THE TUBES IN THE STUDY HAVE INTERNAL RIBS AND POROUS STRUCTURES TO ENHANCE BOILING OF REFRIGERANTS ON EXTERNAL SURFACE. THE RIBS ARE PROVIDED BY THE APPLICATION OF A ROLLER ON THE EXTERNAL SURFACE, SO THAT A PART OF THE EXTERNAL SURFACE IS RECESSED WITH A CERTAIN PITCH. CONSEQUENTLY, THE TUBE-SIDE ENHANCEMENT REDUCES THE ENHANCED AREA ON THE SHELL-SIDE SURFACE DUE TO THE INABILITY TO MACHINE THE POROUS STRUCTURE ON THE RECESSES. AN ANALYSIS IS PERFORMED SO AS TO FIND THE OPTIMUM PITCH FOR THE PROVISION OF INTERNAL RIBS. (JSME INT. J., SER. II, JP., 31, N 2, 1988/05, 348.
