Summary
This article focuses on the systems approach and the results of energy-efficiency enhancement of two steam-turbine driven refrigeration units in the Peroxymeric Chemicals plant at the Dow Chemical Company (St. Charles Operations, Hahnville, La.). The plant manufactures specialty chemicals and is spread over an area of about 40 acres. Similar to other Dow chemical plant sites, this site operates a cogeneration facility that is managed by Dow Chemical Energy Services Group.
