Enrichment of hydrocarbons in pressurized liquid oxygen evaporators.

Type of article: Article
Summary
Promoted ignition of hydrocarbons is considered the most realistic potential ignition source for aluminium in condensers and evaporators, therefore an evaluation is made of the accumulation of airborne hydrocarbons in evaporators. The results are good news for operators of pressurized evaporators: the higher the liquid oxygen pressure, the lower is the potential for hydrocarbon accumulation due to the volatility and solubility of hydrocarbons increasing with temperature of the boiling liquid oxygen. Even so, an efficient method of removing acetylene, ethylene and hydrocarbons higher than C3+ is highly recommended.
