THE NATIONAL SWEDISH ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION BOARD HAS PERFORMED AN INVESTIGATION WITH THE OBJECTIVE OF DEFINING THE NEED FOR RESEARCH INTO THE ENVIRONMENTAL EFFECTS OF HEAT ABSTRACTION AND HEAT STORAGE. GROUND AND WATER TEMPERATURES ARE AFFECTED BY ALL METHODS OF HEAT ABSTRACTION AND HEAT STORAGE. VEGETATION AND GROUND ORGANISMS CAN BE AFFECTED DIRECTLY IF THE TEMPERATURE OF THE BIOLOGICALLY ACTIVE SURFACE LAYER IS ALTERED. HEAT ABSTRACTED FROM SURFACE WATER AFFECTS THE NATURAL FLOW AND STRATIFICATION PATTERNS. (SYNOP. SWED. BUILD. RES., SE., N.2, 1982/03, 18.
