Summary

Perifem, a retail technical association and its members work with retailers and its partners, suppliers on all technical subjects in stores (the environment, energy, equipment, new technologies, security and fire safety). Perifem's work aims to promote best practices and share positive feedback. The consideration of environmental quality in the retail sector is rapidly growing. The commercial refrigeration has also changed significantly; this is mainly due to the changing of the concepts and improvement of technology. Since January 2012 retailers have signed a commitment for energy savings with the French ministry of the environment about the closing of 75 % of positive display cabinets by 2020. In a second phase, new challenges on reducing refrigerant emissions will drive the adoption of new behaviors and open today's market of services and technologies to new solutions.
