Summary

Entropy and its derived equations of state may incorporate, in principle, non-equilibrium corrections depending, for instance, on the heat flux, the viscous pressure and other non-equilibrium quantities. In this article, the authors summarize the conceptual analysis of such non-equilibrium contributions as well as some of their physical consequences.
