EQUATIONS OF STATE WITH REDUCED COORDINATES FOR LIQUID-VAPOR EQUILIBRIA OF ZEOTROPE MIXTURES.

EQUATIONS D'ETAT EN COORDONNEES REDUITES POUR LA REPRESENTATION DE L'EQUILIBRE LIQUIDE-VAPEUR DE MELANGES ZEOTROPES.

Author(s) : DEWITTE P., CLODIC D.

Summary

EQUATIONS OF STATE WITH REDUCED COORDINATES OFFER MAJOR ADVANTAGES TO STUDY FLUIDS THAT ARE NOT VERY WELL KNOWN BUT THAT COULD BE ACCEPTABLE WITH RESPECT TO NEW ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS. EQUATIONS OF STATE, FOR REPRESENTING THE LIQUID PHASE, ARE ESPECIALLY INTERESTING TO REPRESENT LIQUID-VAPOR EQUILIBRIA OF ZEOTROPIC MIXTURES OF NEW FLUIDS. SEVERAL MODELS HAVE BEEN TESTED WITH PURE SUBSTANCES, REPRESENTING THE LIQUID PHASE AS WELL AS THE GASEOUS PHASE. TWO OF THEM DESERVE SOME INTEREST. THE COMMON BASIS IS THE BWR (BENEDICT, WEBBS AND RUBIN) EQUATION OF STATE, INREDUCED FORMS. FOR EACH EQUATION, THE AUTHORS PROPOSE A MODEL WHICH REPRESENTS LIQUID-VAPOR EQUILIBRIA OF ZEOTROPE MIXTURES. THESE MODELS INCLUDE AN ITERATIVE ALGORITHM USED TO COMPUTE THERMODYNAMIC PROPERTIES OF DEW AND BUBBLE CURVES.
