A GROUP CONTRIBUTION EQUATION OF STATE FOR CFC-CONTAINING MIXTURES.

Author(s) : FRANSSON E., VIDAL J.

Summary

THIS WORK IS A CONTRIBUTION TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEW THERMODYNAMICAL TOOLS, NECESSARY FOR THE MODELING OF POTENTIAL SUBSTITUTES, IN FORM OF MIXTURES, FOR THE ENVIRONMENTALLY HARMFUL CHLOROFLUOROCARBONS. A GROUP CONTRIBUTION METHOD, THE FORMALISM OF WHICH IS CLOSELY RELATED TO THE 2-PARAMETER CUBIC EQUATIONS OF STATE TOGETHER WITH THE TRADITIONAL MIXING RULES, IS DISCUSSED. THE METHOD UTILIZES THE CORRESPONDENCE THAT EXISTS BETWEEN THE EXCESS FUNCTION CONCEPT AND THE TRADITIONAL MIXING RULES. A PREDICTIVE METHOD FOR VLE-MODELLING OF MIXTURES CONTAINING CFCS, HCFCS AND HYDROCARBONS IS DEVELOPED.
