Summary

THE PAPER REPORTS THE ANALYSIS OF ROTATING SLIDES IN ROTARY COMPRESSORS FOR ROOM AIR CONDITIONERS, USING THE AE DIAGNOSTIC TECHNIQUE. RELIABILITY OF ROTARY COMPRESSORS IN PRODUCTION HAS BEEN EVALUATED BY VISUAL INSPECTION, WHICH NEEDS DISASSEMBLY AFTER A LONG-TERM TEST. THE AUTHORS HAVE DEVELOPED NEW DIAGNOSTIC TECHNIQUES BY WHICH THE COMPRESSORS CAN BE MONITORED WITHOUT DISASSEMBLY. FIRST, AE SIGNALS IN NORMALLY OPERATING COMPRESSORS WITHOUT DEFECTS WERE INVESTIGATED. SECOND, BURST OR CONTINUOUS TYPE AE SIGNALS WERE DETECTED IN COMPRESSORS WITH ARTIFICIAL DEFECTS REPRESENTING ABRASION OR WATER. A DIAGNOSIS ALGORITHM WAS DEVELOPED.
