Summary
The paper describes the calculation method of evaporative cooling effects of earth covered roofs, analyzes the heat balance and water mass balance of the roof surface, compares the surface temperature, conduction heat gains of the roof to those of a conventionally insulated roof, and provides maps of the evaporative cooling effects using the weather data of 66 cities in Japan.
