Exchangers: impact of zeotropic mixtures on their sizing.

Echangeurs : impact des mélanges zéotropes sur leur dimensionnement.

Author(s) : MARVILLET C., BERRADA N.

Type of article: Article

Summary

The authors review basic information on zeotropic mixtures, the latest findings on thermodynamic and thermophysical mixtures and the zeotropic mixture transfer laws. They then describe the new design restrictions for evaporators and condensers in refrigerating plants that run on zeotropic mixtures, and discuss the following topics: counter-current circulation of heat-transfer fluids and refrigerants, the circulation of the mixture in the pipes of the evaporator or the condenser at sufficient speeds, the limiting of the refrigerant charge in the low-pressure stage and the homogeneity of two-phase distribution between the pipes of an evaporator or a condenser.
