Summary

FOR THE FIRST TIME THE TEMPERATURE EVOLUTION OF THE EXCITON LUMINESCENCE SPECTRUM OF ARGON CRYSTALS WAS STUDIED IN THE TEMPERATURE RANGE OF 5-40 K. A NEW MAXIMUM IN THE COHERENT EXCITON LUMINESCENCE IS REVEALED AND IDENTIFIED. THE NECESSITY OF TAKING INTO ACCOUNT POLARIZATION EFFECTS IN THE ARGON LUMINESCENCE IS DISCUSSED. THE PROOF IS DERIVED TO SUPPORT THE EXISTENCE OF SINGLE-SITE EXCITONS SELF-TRAPPED IN THE SAMPLE BULK.
