POINTS OUT THAT IN EVERY PRACTICAL THERMODYNAMIC CYCLE ENERGY LOSSES OCCUR CAUSING INCREASED CONSUMPTION OF USEFUL ENERGY. THE EXTENT OF THESE LOSSES CAN BE DETERMINED QUANTITATIVELY USING THE CONCEPT OF EXERGY. DEVELOPS AN OPERATIONAL DIAGRAM AND A THERMODYNAMIC RELATION AS A BASIS FOR CALCULATION OF THE VARIOUS EXERGETIC LOSSES. PROVIDES A CALCULATED EXAMPLE BASED ON A REFRIGERATION PLANT FOR A COLD STORE.
