EXERGY IN REFRIGERATION.

L'EXERGIE EN REFRIGERATION.

Author(s) : RIGOT G.

Type of article: Article

Summary

THE NOTION OF EXERGY OR < UTILISABLE ENERGY > REPRESENTING THE THERMODYNAMIC QUALITY OF ENERGY IS EXPLAINED, MAINLY IN THE CASE OF REFRIGERATING MACHINES. THE AUTHOR SUMMARIZES THE TWO FUNDAMENTAL LAWS OF THERMODYNAMICS AND GIVES THE EXPRESSIONS FOR ENERGY, EXERGY AND ANERGY, WITH THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN THEM. THE EXERGY OF A MASS OF FLUID IS CALCULATED, ALLOWING FOR THE REFERENCE STAGE OF THE SYSTEM CHARACTERIZED BY ITS TEMPERATURE. HEAT ENERGY IS EVALUATED, THEN AN EXERGY BALANCE OF THERMODYNAMIC TRANSFORMATION IS ESTABLISHED AND ITS EXERGETIC EFFICIENCY IS DETERMINED, LEADING TO ECONOMIC OPTIMIZATION. EXERGY/ENTHALPY CHARTS ARE PRESENTED: THESE HAVE BEEN ALREADY PUBLISHED FOR MOST COMMON REFRIGERANTS. J.L.
