Author(s) : SMID V., DVORAK Z.

Summary

THE COMPRESSOR OF AN INDIVIDUAL REFRIGERATION UNIT FOR ROAD VEHICLES IS A TURBOCOMPRESSOR OPERATING WITH REFRIGERANT VAPOUR. THE LIQUID REFRIGERANT IS EVAPORATED BY THE HEAT FROM EXHAUST GASES. DURING STOPS HEAT IS PROVIDED BY DIESEL FUEL COMBUSTION. THE CAPACITY OF THE UNIT WAS CHOSEN IN ORDER TO COMPARE ITS MAIN TECHNICAL DATA WITH THOSE OF A CONVENTIONAL SERIES PISTON COMPRESSOR, DRIVEN EITHER BY A PETROL ENGINE OR BY AN ELECTRIC MOTOR. THE RESULTS OF BOTH UNITS ARE ANALYSED AND THE ADVANTAGES AND DRAWBACKS OF THE NEW SYSTEM ARE EVALUATED.
